Marinated Salmon Steaks

This salmon is perfect with roasted asparagus.

It has taken me quite some time to find a salmon recipe that I really like. This recipe brings out all the best flavor of the salmon and makes the fish flaky and delicious. I suggest you marinate your salmon a minimum of two hours, but I usually try to marinate it overnight for the best flavor.


From start to finish, this recipe will take you about 15-20 minutes. (Allow for a minimum of 1 hour to marinate.)

1-1 1/2 lbs. salmon steaks
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
3 tbsp olive oil
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup water

Season steaks with pepper and garlic powder.
Mix all remaining ingredients in a bowl until sugar is dissolved.
Pour mixture into a resealable plastic bag and add salmon.
Ensure salmon is covered.
Refrigerate and marinate for a minimum of two hours.

To Prepare on the Grill
Grill over medium to medium-high heat.
Lightly grease grill grate to avoid sticking.
Grill for 6-8 minutes on each side, depending on thickness of steaks.

To Prepare in the Oven
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place aluminum foil over a roasting pan or cookie sheet.
Bake approximately 6-8 minutes on each side, depending on thickness of steaks.

    Sounds good, Heather. I make a simple salmon steak with lemon juice and capers, olive oil, salt and freshly ground black pepper. I often serve mine with a field greens and mandarin orange salad with slivered almonds and a raspberry vinaigrette.
